Cosmetic Veneers – porcelain veneers can enhance the appearance of your teeth.

In some circumstances patients may feel that the result they are hoping to achieve may not be possible using tooth bleaching alone, or in combination with resin bonding.

In these situations, the next most conservative treatment which can be offered is placing porcelain veneers. A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain which is cemented to the tooth.

While more conservative of tooth tissue than a crown, it should be remembered that to place a veneer which will give the shape and colour that the patient is hoping for may require the removal of healthy tooth. This will then be replaced by the porcelain veneer. The amount of removal of tooth tissue is in the region of 0.5-1.0 mm.

With veneers an impression is recorded following preparation of the tooth. Our registered dental mechanic then constructs the custom made veneer which is cemented to the tooth using the latest cements. Particular attention is paid to the appearance and form, so that the new veneer will correctly mesh with the adjacent and opposing teeth (termed the occlusion) and have a pleasing appearance.
